You say that it asks me to save to MP3 locally. I don’t recall that happening. The app seemed to just do its thing. Is this an optional route to take (instead of adding to your ClickCaster podcast feed)?

Excellent review! We’d like to point out that, with ClickCaster, once you’ve recorded your show, it asks you to save it on your hard disk as an MP3 file (which gives you alot of freedom to edit and upload later if you like). Also, the Java Recorder has substantially higher fidelity than a Flash recorder (ours is currently set at 128kbs, but soon it’ll be adjustable, from 64-320kps). PodOMatic and ODEO are doing great things as well. We look forward to the competition.

in answer to your question ‘is saving the file an optional route’, we decided that no, it’s not. This is a recent feature addition (and you’ll be seeing alot of that in the coming month). Before it encodes and uploads the file, it asks you to save it (as a finalized audio file) to your hard disk. Due to the size of these files, it’s not unheard of to lose a connection during the process. This allows you to have a local copy that you can reupload if there are network problems. It also gives you a local library of your shows and files that, if you like, you can edit with a program like Audacity, and reupload later (taking out, for instance, that unfortunately comment about your wifes sister, for instance).
