Don’t forget that I’ve put together the finest collection of gifts for your favorite podcasting friend, family member, neighbor, or stranger! This isn’t just a list for holiday gifts, but great to find something to buy for a birthday gift or something for yourself, too. Filled with books, hardware and more, the store is broken out into four areas:
Visit the Gift for Podcasters Store.
As a follow-up to the Podcasting Holiday Gift Guide I revamped a podcasting store that I put together sometime back. Gifts for Podcasters now includes books, inspiration, hardware and software for yourself, your podcaster or new media enthusiast.

This morning I sent out the November issue of SYNC Monthly, the monthly newsletter from PFA. If you’re not a subscriber, not only did you miss out on an opportunity to win a free copy of The Business Podcasting Book, but also on some interesting links and commentary on podcasting today!
I encourage you to subscribe to the newsletter. It’s free and you’ll receive one monthly newsletter and nothing else.
Did you just do a double-take? I don’t blame you. The blog entry title is a weird one, but it’s true!
Dan Klass announced on his blog tonight that Blogger & Podcast Magazine is teaming up with USA Today to offer a Blogger & Podcaster Guide that will be a part of the circulated newspaper once per week, as well as on the USA Today website.
I agree with Dan that this is a great opportunity to get some exposure for your podcast!
Now, this isn’t all happening for free, but the Blogger & Podcaster Magazine is offering everyone a one-line listing for one month at zero cost and obligation. Read Dan’s write-up on it for more information. It’s free, so why not do it!?
If you haven’t already signed up to win a free copy of The Business Podcasting Book, you have one week left! I’ve set up a giveaway page with all the details and a form you can use to sign up. The contest is open to all subscribers of my monthly email newsletter, so sign up! It’s a free way to get a free book.
What do you get by signing up?
Last night I sent out the latest issue of SYNC Monthly, the (usually) monthly email newsletter for this site. In the email I let all of the subscribers know that I’m giving away a free copy of The Business Podcasting Book to one lucky newsletter subscriber.
You can find all of the details on the giveaway page, but the short version is that in order to win you have to be newsletter subscriber. SYNC Monthly is a text-only, short email newsletter that is sent (almost) monthly with information about this site, podcasting, some of my new podcasting finds and articles.
Head over to the giveaway page for more information and to sign up for a chance to win.
Michael reminded me with his post that I need to announce the book signing for the new Podcast Academy: The Business Podcasting Book. It will take place this Friday (9/28) at 1PM in the Digital Guru Bookstore in the exhibit hall of the Podcast and New Media Expo in Ontario, CA. The exhibit hall is free for anyone (free registration required).
All of the authors will be around to chat about the book, sign it (*blush*) and answer any questions you might have, so please stop by!
Today DHL delivered a packaged that contained one of the first copies of the new book to which I contributed 5 chapters.
It’s great to see the book in person and be able to flip through it. It’s no flimsy tome, either. This is a 400+ page book chock full of excellent business podcasting advice and direction from the pros.
You can pre-order the book at Amazon.
Over on my personal site, I’ve challenged the web community - designers, developers and creators - to help me raise money for Muscular Dystrophy.
The goal is to raise as much as we can for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and help fund research for a cure and support for affected individuals and families.
From the page:
Individually, I’m sure we all do something throughout the year to help any one of the thousands of charities. But through this fund drive to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association we speak loudly as a group letting clients, friends and family know that while we may be constantly attached to our laptops with white earbuds glued to our ears, we are tuned into the suffering of others and care enough to do something to help.

I’m happy to announce that next month at the Podcast & New Media Expo, ”Podcast Academy: The Business Podcasting Book“ (Focal Press) will be released and is now available for pre-orders at Amazon. The book’s author is the fearless, sleepless and energetic Greg Cangialosi, CEO of Blue Sky Factory and producer of some of the first corporate podcasts. I am a contributing author and wrote 5 chapters for the book. It’s been an exciting journey, but first let me tell you about the rest of the people that helped make the book happen.

Michael Geoghegan of Gigavox Media and Podcast Academy is the Editor-in-chief of the book with other contributions from Colette Vogellle of Vogelle & Associates and Tim Bourquin of TNC New Media (the company behind the Podcast & New Media Expo).
”Podcast Academy: The Business Podcasting Book“ is aimed at organizations and business of all sizes who are looking to leverage podcasting as an authentic communication mechanism. While I wrote some of the most technical parts of the book, the book isn’t at all technical. We aimed to make sure it was enough detail to make informed decisions but not so much technical detail that it would fall outside of the interest of company decision makers. Rather than repeat what Greg has already written, let me quote him as he describes the book:
The book is broken into three parts and is roughly 400 pages. We first drill into an overview of podcasting, examples of corporate podcasting, podcastings role in the social media landscape, and what organizations needs to consider before jumping in.
The second section, which was written mostly by Ryan, is an overview of the podcast production process. He covers everything from planning decisions, all the way through to the production of your podcast and the power of RSS. Also in this section, Colette offers an excellent chapter on the potential legal issues organizations must consider as well before they delve into a podcasting initiative.
The third section of the book is focused on getting your podcast out there, building your audience and community, monetizing your content, and measuring your success. In this section I am joined by Tim who contributed an incredibly detailed chapter on monetizing your podcast.
That about sums it up. The book is available now at Amazon.com for pre-orders. From what I’ve been told there will also be plenty of copies available at the Podcast Expo next month.
Many, many thanks to Michael at Gigavox, Greg for leading up the book and making it fun to work on and, of course, the team at Focal Press for the great opportunity!
